It was another magnificent chapter in an already glittering career, and further strengthened his claim as the greatest men’s tennis player of all time.

- Surpassed Jimmy Connors for most Wimbledon match wins – 91
- Became the only player to win at least 8 slams on 2 different surfaces (Grass – 8, Hard – 10)
- Surpassed Arthur Ashe(who won Wimbledon at 31) as the oldest Wimbledon champion in the Open Era – 35 years 342 days.
He is also the second oldest major champion after Ken Rosewall, who won the Australian Open at 37. - Joined Bjorn Borg as the only players in the Open Era to win Wimbledon without dropping a set
