We are announcing the winners in 2 different categories – 1) Best Tennis Matches of 2017 2) Best Women’s Tennis Matches of 2017.

With a whopping 35.2% of votes, the Australian Open final between Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal is the runaway winner of our poll. The first Fedal Grand Slam final since 2011 lived up to all the hype and anticipation, and will definitely be spoken about for years to come. It is the match of 2017, polling well over twice as many votes as the next best match.

The Miami Open semi-final between Roger Federer and Nick Kyrgios is our second best tennis match of 2017. The battle for no. 2 was intense and close, but this triple tiebreak thriller just edged it in the end polling 15.9% of total votes.

This brutal 5 hour tussle between Rafael Nadal and Grigor Dimitrov is no. 3 on our list of best tennis matches of the year. Receiving 15.5% of votes it narrowly missed out on the 2nd spot.

 

This year, all the top 3 matches were from the men’s tour. Let’s now take a look at the best women’s matches of 2017.

1) Johanna Konta d. Simona Halep 6-7 7-6 6-4 Wimbledon, QF

The back-and-forth Wimbledon quarter-final between Johanna Konta and Simona Halep has been voted as the best women’s match of 2017. It very narrowly edged it with 1.724% of votes polled.

2) Venus Williams d. Jelena Ostapenko 7-5 6-7 7-5 WTA Finals, RR

There’s a reason we had to go into more than 1 decimal place for our women’s match of the year. The round-robin epic between Venus Williams and Jelena Ostapenko at the WTA finals polled 1.718% of votes to slot into no. 2 on the list.

3) Maria Sharapova d. Simona Halep 6-4 4-6 6-3 US Open, 1st Round

With 1.4% of votes polled, this US Open first round encounter is No. 3 on our list. Of course, this was no ordinary first round encounter. Maria Sharapova marked her return to the Grand Slam stage following a doping ban with an enthralling performance to defeat second seeded Simona Halep in front of a packed Arthur Ashe Stadium.
